Parents need to know that Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a live-action adventure based on the bilingual Nickelodeon preschool series Dora the Explorer. But unlike the preschool-friendly show, this version looks aimed more at tweens and teens who are ready for something a bit more action-packed. Dora (Isabela Moner) is now a teenager who's grown up exploring the jungle with her parents (Eva Longoria and Michael Peña). But when they go off on a dangerous mission to find the lost city of gold, Dora is left to tackle a different sort of adventure: starting high school in the city with her cousin Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg). But then Dora and her classmates are kidnapped by people who are searching for her parents -- and the lost city. With the help of her parents' pal (Eugenio Derbez) and her trusty sidekick, Boots (voiced by Danny Trejo), Dora must use all of her skills to escape and find the lost city before the bad guys do. Expect lots of action, slapstick humor, and peril, but overall this looks like an exciting family movie for kids who've outgrown the original series.
